KMC Notice Controversy: The political stir intensified in Kolkata on Monday when the presence of a large number of police forces was seen outside the residence of Abhishek Banerjee. After the sudden increase in police deployment in the area, many discussions started in political circles. However, the official reason for the presence of police force is not clear. This development has come to light at a time when recently Kolkata Municipal Corporation i.e. KMC had issued notices on many properties regarding alleged illegal construction. These properties are said to be related to Abhishek Banerjee and his family.
17 properties under KMC’s scrutiny
According to reports, KMC officials have started investigation into 17 properties allegedly linked to Abhishek Banerjee. Notice also on companies and properties related to the family
In the matter of the property located on Harish Mukherjee Road, the notice has reportedly been issued in the name of ‘Leaps and Bounds Private Limited’. Reports have claimed that this company is linked to members of the Banerjee family. At the same time, a notice regarding the property situated on Kalighat Road is being said to be issued in the name of Abhishek Banerjee’s mother Lata Banerjee. Both the properties are said to be near the Kalighat residence of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Bengal politics heats up again
After the KMC notice, a phase of allegations and counter-allegations has started once again in the politics of West Bengal. The Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have in the past also raised questions over properties allegedly belonging to the Banerjee family. The opposition has been continuously alleging that while in power, the assets of people associated with the family increased rapidly. However, Trinamool Congress has been calling these allegations a political conspiracy.
Mamta Banerjee has already told about political conspiracy
Mamata Banerjee has rejected these allegations on several occasions earlier. He has been saying that the opposition raises such issues to defame his image and family. Trinamool Congress claims that the opposition has no concrete evidence and old allegations are being repeated again and again for political gains.
There is suspense regarding police deployment
At present, not much information has been revealed officially regarding the reason for heavy police force being deployed outside Abhishek Banerjee’s house. For this reason, a period of political discussions and speculations continues. Experts believe that the KMC notice and the presence of police have once again brought this entire matter into the limelight. Bengal politics may heat up further on this issue in the coming days.
