In his address, PM Modi said, ‘The 21st century is our century, the century of India and ASEAN.’ Describing ASEAN as the main pillar of India’s ‘Act East Policy’, he said that India always supports the centrality of ASEAN and its vision on Indo-Pacific. The PM welcomed Timor-Leste as a new member of ASEAN and declared 2026 as the ‘ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation’. He said that this strong partnership between India and ASEAN is emerging as a strong basis for global stability and development.
