An integrated station is being developed at Aerocity
There is a big relief news for the passengers flying from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport). Metro service is going to start soon between Terminal-1 (T1) and Terminal-3 (T3) of the airport. With this, passengers will no longer have to depend on taxis or cabs to travel between terminals.
At present, out of the three terminals of Delhi Airport, T2 and T3 are very close to each other, but T1 is a few kilometers away from them. This distance often causes inconvenience to passengers, especially when they have to catch a transit flight. Now Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has found a solution to this problem.
Integrated station will be built at Aerocity
DIAL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said that a new integrated metro station will be built to ensure connectivity between Aerocity and T1. According to Jaipuriyar, earlier the Golden Line was to come only till Aerocity, but now it has been decided to extend it till T1. In this way, this line will go from T1 to Aerocity, and from Aerocity the already existing Airport Metro line will take the passengers forward.
Under this new scheme, an integrated station is being developed in Aerocity. From here, passengers will get direct connection to both the Golden Line and Airport Express Line. This means that passengers will now be able to reach Aerocity directly from T1 by metro and from there to T3 or other parts of Delhi without any hindrance.
Passenger will benefit like this
This step will not only increase the convenience of passengers, but will also reduce the congestion of vehicles in the airport premises. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and DIAL are working together on this project. Officials say that this connectivity will be completely ready in the next few years. After the start of the new metro line, IGI Airport will become the first airport in the country where all the terminals will be directly connected to the metro network. With this, there will be a big improvement in both the modernity of Delhi Airport and the convenience of passengers.
