India avoided a whitewash at the hands of Australia and a win in the third ODI saw the series finish 2-1 in the home team’s favour. Even though India lost the series, Rohit Sharma’s century and Virat Kohli’s half-century were celebrated in Adelaide.
The Indian legends shone with the bat and signed off from Australia on a winning note. They are now only active in ODIs and aren’t expected to play another game in Australia.
There are plenty of changes in the T20I squad compared to the ODI team. As many as eight players are only part of the ODI team and not the T20I squad. Here we have a look at the complete changes –
Out
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are among the eight players who are part of the ODI team. The former Indian captains retired from the shortest format after winning the 2024 World Cup in June. Shreyas Iyer is an ODI specialist and he wasn’t named in the T20I squad. He suffered an injury during the third ODI and is likely to stay out of action for a few weeks.
KL Rahul has been out of the T20I team since the 2022 T20 World Cup. He remains a regular in the Test and ODI teams. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna aren’t part of the T20I squad either.
Dhruv Jurel piped Sanju Samson to earn his maiden ODI call-up, but he isn’t part of the T20I team. He didn’t get to make his ODI debut. Yashasvi Jaiswal once again missed out on making his T20I comeback. He, too, didn’t get to play an ODI in Australia. He is capped in all three formats.
In
Captain Suryakumar Yadav is among the eight players who are part of the T20I team. The right-handed batsman has been out of the ODI squad since the 2023 World Cup final. He has also played one Test.
Abhishek Sharma is presently a one-format player in international cricket. He played for India A in the unofficial one-dayers recently. Tilak Varma has also joined the team.
Varun Chakaravarthy, who was part of thr 2025 Champions Trophy winning side, was dropped from the ODI team due to conditions in Australia. Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the ODI leg and he is now back in T20Is. Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh are two other T20I specialists who will be part of the series.
Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh are seven players who are part of both teams.
