Aurangabad Railway Station Renamed: Maharashtra Government has now changed the name of Aurangabad Railway Station to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. This step has been taken in honor of Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Aurangabad Railway Station Renamed: Aurangabad Railway Station of Maharashtra has now been renamed as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station. After this decision of Central Railway, this station will be officially known by a new name. Information about its formal implementation has been given in the notification issued by the state government. This station falls in Nanded division of South Central Railway.
The state government had given approval to change the name in 2022.
Three years after Maharashtra’s historical city Aurangabad was named Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, now the Railways has also officially changed it. Railways said that the renaming process has been completed and the new name will soon be visible on all platform indicators, time tables, ticketing systems and digital boards. This change has been made in the memory of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire and is known for his bravery. The state government had approved changing the name of Aurangabad city in 2022. But to change the name of a railway station, permission and formalities of the Central Government and many administrative departments have to be completed. Now this entire process has been completed.
