The Yadav-Muslim equation has always given strength to RJD in Marhaura assembly seat. Jitendra Kumar Rai won consecutively in 2010, 2015 and 2020. Now the question is – will they be able to hoist the victory flag for the fourth time in 2025?
Marhaura Assembly Election 2025: Marhaura Vidhan Sabha Seat is considered to be one of the most important and popular seats of Bihar. Yadav and Muslim voters play a decisive role in this seat which falls under Saran Lok Sabha constituency. This is the reason why Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Jitendra Kumar Rai has won consecutively in the last three elections (2010, 2015 and 2020). His image, caste equations and support base have made him the strongest face of Marhaura.
2010 elections: victory despite Nitish wave
The 2010 assembly elections took place at the peak of Nitish Kumar’s popularity. At that time JDU was getting tremendous support in the name of development and good governance. Despite this, RJD candidate Jitendra Kumar Rai won by securing 26,374 votes, while JDU’s Lal Babu Rai got 20,750 votes. The victory margin here was 5,624 votes. This result was a big message for RJD.
2015 elections: Big victory against BJP
In the 2015 assembly elections, the contest on Marhaura seat became more interesting. This time Lal Babu Rai contested the elections from BJP. But BJP could not stand in front of the Yadav-Muslim equation and the strength of the alliance. Jitendra Kumar Rai won by getting 66,714 votes, while BJP’s Lal Babu Rai got 49,996 votes. The victory margin here reached 16,718 votes.
2020 elections: Hat-trick by defeating Altaf Alam Raju
In 2020, JDU fielded Altaf Alam Raju on Marhaura seat. Despite the presence of LJP, it did not have much impact. Jitendra Kumar Rai won for the third consecutive time by securing 59,812 votes. Altaf Alam got 48,427 votes. This time the victory margin was 11,385 votes. The support of Muslim voters and the trust of Yadav community became the key to victory for RJD.
Note: RJD MLA Jitendra Kumar Rai is a graduate. There are five criminal cases against him. His total movable and immovable assets are Rs 4 crore and he has a loan of Rs 31 lakh.
2025 elections: What will be the story of the fourth victory?
Now the elections of 2025 are being considered very interesting. Will the Yadav-Muslim equation once again ensure RJD’s victory or will the opposition parties turn the tables by creating a new equation? This question is making the politics of Madhaura more mysterious.
