Jeweller dies in police custody udaipur: Rishabhdev police station of Udaipur district of Rajasthan is once again in controversy. The suspected death of a jeweler at the police station here on Monday has raised deep questions on the police working style. The deceased has been identified as Suresh Panchal (55), resident Bichiwada (Dungarpur).
Inquiry or torture? Family allegations created ruckus
Suresh Panchal was brought to the police station on suspicion of buying stolen goods. Family members say that the police tortured him mentally and physically in the name of interrogation for hours. Son Himanshu told that first Govardhan Vilas police station threatened and then pressure was made at Rishabhdev police station. Due to that, his health deteriorated and died in the hospital.

Demonstration, compensation and job demand continued overnight
After the incident, family members and people of the society started protesting at the police station and hospital. It is being demanded that Suresh’s son be given a government job and proper compensation to the family. The conversation between the administration and the family continued till late night, but the solution could not be found.
Outrage of merchant society and warning of organization
Yashwant Anchalia, president of Udaipur Sarafa Association, condemned the police, saying that the business community is being targeted unnecessarily. He demanded that it should be made mandatory to inform the organization before questioning any businessman in future.

Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal has assured a fair investigation into the case. He said that the jeweler was brought only for questioning and suddenly his health deteriorated and was immediately taken to the hospital. Now the biggest question is-is Suresh died due to torture in police custody or was it just a coincidence? The layers of this mystery will open only after investigation.
