Excel Entertainment, run by Farhan Akhtar, disputes this and says the script was shared and discussed at every stage. They have now demanded around Rs 40 crore in damages, saying they spent a lot on pre-production before Ranveer walked out.

The dispute has since gone to the Producers Guild of India and even the Federation of Western India Cine Employees issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer, but later withdrew it.
