Pakistan Afghanistan Border Clash: Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has warned that if the ongoing Pakistan-Afghanistan talks in Istanbul fail, then open war could break out between the two countries. However, efforts for a peace agreement are continuing.

Pakistan Warns Afghanistan: Tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan is once again at its peak. Even though ceasefire has been implemented after the recent border conflict between the two countries, but now Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has warned that if an agreement is not reached in the ongoing talks in Istanbul, then open war can happen. His statement has come at a time when the situation between the two countries has remained calm for some days.

Pakistan-Afghanistan talks in Istanbul

High-level talks between the two countries have started in Istanbul from Saturday (October 25), which may continue till Sunday. The purpose of these discussions is to end the ongoing conflict between the two countries, so that the Doha ceasefire can remain in force for a long time.

Pakistani Defense Minister’s warning

Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif said, ‘In the last four to five days, both the countries have followed the ceasefire. There has been no new clash yet. But if there is no agreement, we will have the option of open war. But he also added that ‘I saw that Afghanistan wants peace.’

Why dispute between Pakistan and Afghanistan?

Recently there were border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, in which dozens of people died. Pakistan alleged that the Taliban regime is harboring terrorist groups, which are carrying out attacks inside Pakistan. In response, Pakistan carried out airstrikes inside the Afghan border, which led to heavy firing on both sides and forced the closure of several major border crossings, which are still closed.

Accusations and counter-accusations between Pakistan and Taliban

Islamabad alleges that the Taliban is harboring terrorist bases and failing to stop attacks against Pakistan. Whereas Taliban says that Pakistan’s military action is a violation of Afghan sovereignty. This tension between the two countries is considered to be the biggest after the Taliban’s capture of Kabul in 2021.
