Shreyas Iyer’s medical bulletin issued by BCCI; Player hospitalized in Australia

Indian vice-captain Shreyas Iyer looked in utter discomfort after having injured his ribs while taking a stupendous running catch that dismissed Alex Carey and marked the start of Australia’s downfall.

The BCCI has finally revealed the status of his injury.

India is playing Australia in the final ODI and has received multiple blows. Nitish Kumar Reddy is already doubtful about participating in the upcoming T20I series in Australia, where he was the lead all-rounder following Hardik Pandya’s exit.

Shreyas Iyer, the vice-captain, has now joined the list, though he is not part of the T20I series following the end of the One-day format.

Shreyas Iyer hospitalized after a rib injury for further assessment

When Alex Carey was batting against Harshit Rana, he edged and lobbed a ball as it flew towards the third man fielder, but Shreyas Iyer, standing at point, rushed back with his eyes set on the ball. The fielder didn’t disappoint the Indian team as he grabbed the ball with perfection, but ended up injuring himself in the attempt.

The BCCI has now stated that Shreyas Iyer has sustained an injury to his left rib and has been moved to a hospital in Australia for further evaluation and assessment of his injury. If Shreyas is ruled out, India will miss their vice-captain for the home series against South Africa.
