The politics of Bihar has once again become heated. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar has filled the NDA camp with new enthusiasm, the influence of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party seems to be fading.
With the arrival of PM Modi, discussions have intensified in political circles that “the game of PK may be over now.”
PM Modi’s Bihar tour creates atmosphere of excitement from Samastipur to Begusarai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed public meetings in Samastipur and Begusarai in Bihar on Friday. He first reached Karpuri village of Samastipur and offered floral tribute to Bharat Ratna Jannayak Karpuri Thakur. After this, Modi formally started the NDA election campaign in a rally in Samastipur. Modi said, “The trumpet of the great festival of democracy has sounded, the whole of Bihar is saying once again NDA government, once again good governance government. Bihar will keep the people of Jungle Raj away.”
Addressing the people of Bihar, the Prime Minister said that his government is working in the interest of the deprived and the poor under the inspiration of Karpoori Thakur. He said that the NDA government gave 10 percent reservation to the general category poor and extended the reservation for Scheduled Castes and Tribes for 10 years.
PM Modi also made a sharp attack on the opposition, saying, “Those who are on bail in scams worth thousands of crores, are now stealing even the title of Jannayak. Bihar will never tolerate the insult of such people.”
Question on Jan Suraj’s strategy
Meanwhile, new political equations seem to be forming regarding Prashant Kishor’s party Jan Suraj. Jan Suraj has kept in mind local popularity and caste equations in the selection of candidates, but after the entry of Prime Minister Modi, political analysts believe that PK’s influence may now be limited.
In the 2020 assembly elections, Jan Suraj has given special focus to those seats where the margin of victory was very less. Jan Suraj has fielded candidates on seats like Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gopalganj, Pranpur and Arrah. Among them, former DG of Darbhanga R.K. Famous faces like Mishra and Dr. Shashi Shekhar from Gopalganj are included.
However, lack of organizational strength still remains the biggest challenge facing Jan Suraj. Due to the weakness of the ground network and limited campaign resources, the party’s influence seems to be limited to a limited extent.
Jan Suraj’s possible impact on the electoral equation
Political experts believe that the victory margin on about 83 seats in Bihar has been less than 5 percent. In such a situation, if Jan Suraj gets even 5 percent vote share, he can change the results on many seats.
However, now after PM Modi’s visit and the rise of NDA’s campaign, Jan Suraj’s vote bank seems to be disintegrating. According to experts, Jan Suraj was earlier cutting into the votes of independents and small parties, but now due to the Modi factor, the anti-NDA vote may again return in favor of the Grand Alliance.
,Discussion on ‘Chirag Model’, but enthusiasm is in NDA’s side
Election analyst says that Prashant Kishore is continuously targeting JDU. His strategy seems to be similar to that adopted by Chirag Paswan last time. However, this time the situation is different, under the leadership of Modi, NDA has put all its strength in the field, and the huge crowd in the rallies is indicating that the enthusiasm of NDA is at its peak in Bihar.
