Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed to strengthen the drug control system to ensure the quality of medicines in the state. The post of District Drug Control Officer will be created in every district and recruitment of drug inspectors will now be done through written examination.

Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the drug control system will be made more strong and effective to ensure the quality of medicines in the state. He directed the officials that now the post of ‘District Drug Control Officer’ should be created in every district so that the work system can be further strengthened.

The number of drug inspectors will be doubled, recruitment will be done through written examination.

The Chief Minister said that the number of Drug Inspectors should be doubled as compared to the present number. He also directed that recruitment to these posts will now be done through written examination instead of interview, so that the selection process can be transparent, fair and of quality.

Decision taken in the meeting of FSDA department

The Chief Minister was presiding over a high-level meeting of the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) department on Friday. In the meeting, proposals related to restructuring of drug control cadre and creation of new posts were reviewed. Yogi Adityanath said that adequate deployment of drug inspectors should be ensured in all the districts and effective supervision and timely investigation system should be implemented at the district level.

Presently 109 drug inspectors are working in the state.

It was told in the meeting that at present only 109 drug inspectors are working in the department, which is not sufficient as per the standards of the Government of India. On this, the Chief Minister said that it is very important from the public health point of view to make the drug inspection system in the state as per the national standards.

Reorganization of higher posts of drug control cadre

Restructuring of higher posts of the Drug Control Department was also discussed in the meeting. The Chief Minister approved the proposal to amend the service rules for increasing the number of posts of Deputy Commissioner (Drugs) and promotion to the post of Joint Commissioner (Drugs). He said that clear qualifications and standards should be set for the post of Drug Controller. Also, a fixed tenure should be fixed for this post, so that leadership and accountability can be ensured at the top level of the department.
