Kantara star Rishab Shetty has been making headlines once again and this time, it is not for his cinematic brilliance. The actor recently revealed that his real name is Prashant and his astrologer father changed it.
“My real name is Prashant. My father suggested I change it to Rishab for better prospects in work,” Rishab said in an interview.
In India, where the coming together of destiny and stardom is often aligned with astrology, this revelation has reignited a fascinating conversation: Can a simple name change really influence one’s fate? To understand the deeper meaning behind this belief, we spoke to Sidhharrth S Kumaar who breaks down why people, and increasingly, celebrities, are turning to numerology and astrology for this practice.
“Contrary to popular belief, the concept of name change is not a modern-day phenomenon, rather it has been deeply woven into the very fabric of Sanatan Dharma. Throughout history, name changes have marked spiritual rebirths and life transformations. After Guru Diksha (initiation by the master), disciples were given new names to signify the awakening of higher consciousness,” he explained.
Sidhharrth further said, “That’s why seekers like Swami Vivekananda, Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Swami Yogananda and many others adopted new spiritual names after their initiation.”
Name Change – The Big Debate of Astrology And Numerology
Name is a central anchor topic which is dealt in detail in both astrology and numerology. The first and foremost thing over here is to understand, both sciences talk about complete name as a system, not only first letter or the sum of numeric values of name.
How Is Name Seen In Astrology And Numerology?
In astrology, name is seen as a core anchor which governs the day-to-day life person. The sign based on first sound of name is defined as ‘name sign’ (Naam Raashi) and governs the day-to-day life of human beings.
On the other hand, in the contemporary times, name is primarily being written in English letters, and with the contextual usage, the numerological principles of name such as First Letter of Name and Full name numbers calculated based on numerology should be synchronized with date of birth of person.
Breaking the Common Myths
There are many myths that have been associated to name and the astrologer broke some of them for us.
“Only First letter Of Name Is Important”
This is a very common and popular myth. Every letter of name is important, and not only letters but their associated elements, sounds, and preceding and succeeding letters of each letter form a compound pair which need to be seen and evaluated.
Even in astrology, the focus has been given to all letters.
“First Letter Of Name Should Be Given On Moon Sign Or Moon Nakshatra”
This is yet another myth. The first letter and sound of name should be selected based on complete horoscope. The general myth only works in cases where moon is lord of good houses and are placed in good house. In other cases, this oversimplification is more dangerous than benefit.
“Only Name Numbers Matters In Numerology”
With growing awareness about numerology, and online availability of name calculators, a myth is spreading that, in numerology only total of name is important. This is just a myth; fact is numerology also gives weightage to each letter of name.
How To Curate A Name?
A lucky name is like a gift, which one can give to self or as parents to their kid. A lucky name should be curated based on both astrology and numerology. The focus should be on curating a name which has excellent balance of elements and sounds to bless the native with a abundance in every aspect of life.
