Political leaders across Uttar Pradesh have mourned the demise of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) founder and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren on Monday.

They acknowledged his pivotal role in the upliftment of tribal communities and his decades-long contribution to Indian politics.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow on the social media platform X, stating, “The demise of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shri Shibu Soren ji is extremely saddening. I pay my humble tribute to him. He dedicated his life to the upliftment of the tribal community. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense grief. Om Shanti.”

“The news of the death of former Jharkhand CM and JMM founder Shibu Soren, a stalwart leader of the tribal community, is deeply saddening. My heartfelt sympathies are with his son, current Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, his family, followers, and well-wishers. May nature grant them the strength to endure this loss,” she said.

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has paid homage to Soren, calling him a towering voice of the tribal and marginalized communities.

“The death of former Jharkhand CM and strong voice of the tribal and underprivileged, ‘Dishom Guru’ Shibu Soren ji, is extremely saddening. May God grant peace to his soul. Deep condolences to the bereaved family,” he said.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra remarked, “This is very sad news for all of us. Our prayers and condolences are with the family during this difficult time.”
