Harley-Davidson taps Topgolf exec Arthur Starrs as new CEO

New Delhi: Harley-Davidson have named Arthur Starrs as their next CEO, who will take over the office from October 1st, putting an end to a long search for a candidate who can take over from current CEO Jochen Zeitz. Starrs is at present CEO for Topgolf International, which is a sports entertainment company and a division of the Topgolf Callaway Brands.

Before Topgolf, Starrs was also involved as CEO of Pizza Hut, who are a global restaurant chain and a division of Yum! Brands.

Back in April, Harley had revealed that their current CEO, Zeitz, was planning to step down from his current role this year after serving in the office for five years. His tenure, in fact, saw a revival of the American motorcycle company established in 1903, in the face of falling demand.

For the longest time, Harley-Davidson has been a marquee brand for American motorcycles. In more recent years, they have seen a return to the top of the market in terms of revenue. As a cult classic, Harley-Davidson made the chopper motorcycle style. For the longest time, it has been a cult-classic and the number one choice of bike amongst enthusiasts.

For Harley-Davidson, they have a lot more competition in every market, including in India, with the likes of Royal Enfield and Java delivering products in the segment at a cheaper price.
