In 2010, JDU candidate Dr. Sunil Kumar won for the first time by defeating RJD’s Afreen Sultana by 23,712 votes.

2020 elections – hat-trick of victory for the third time
The same competition heated up again in 2020. This time Dr. Sunil Kumar of BJP and Sunil Kumar of RJD were face to face.

- Sunil Kumar (RJD) -66,786 votes
- Margin of victory – 15,102 votes
Note: This victory was his third consecutive victory, making him the “Invincible Fort of Bihar Sharif”.
Note: BJP MLA Dr. Sunil Kumar is a graduation degree holder. Seven criminal cases are registered against him. His total movable and immovable assets are Rs 11.35 crore and he has no liabilities.
Social equation-who has the upper hand?
Bihar Sharif has a population of 4,35,814, of which 67% is urban and 33% is rural. Here the influence of Kori caste is considered more. Dr. Sunil Kumar’s grip on local issues, caste equation and focus on development work were the main reasons for his victory.
