Will JDU’s dominance continue in Bihariganj Assembly elections 2025 or will Congress and BJP change the equation? The figures of 2010, 2015 and 2020 show that JDU’s fort is strong, but the game may change in 2025.
Bihari Ganj Assembly Election 2025: Bihariganj assembly seat of Madhepura district of Bihar has always been the center of political turmoil. This seat came into existence after the delimitation of 2008 and since then JDU (JD(U)) has continued to dominate here. Interestingly, JDU has maintained its fort in every election from 2010 to 2020. Now the 2025 elections are going to be even more exciting on this seat – as Congress, BJP and local parties are again in the fray with full force.
2010 elections-Renu Kumari’s big victory
The first assembly election on Bihariganj seat was held in 2010. In this election, Renu Kumari of JDU won by defeating Prabhash Kumar of Congress.
- Renu Kumari (JDU) -79,061 votes
- Prabhash Kumar (RJD) -29,065 votes
- Margin of victory – 49,996 votes (huge margin)
2015 election-Entry of Niranjan Kumar Mehta
In the 2015 elections, JDU fielded a new face, Niranjan Kumar Mehta. He faced BJP’s Ravindra Charan Yadav.
- Niranjan Kumar Mehta (JDU)-78,361 votes
- Ravindra Charan Yadav (BJP)-49,108 votes
- Margin of victory – 29,253 votes
Note: This victory shows that JDU’s hold was getting stronger here.
2020 elections-Congress showed strength
The 2020 election was exciting. Congress fielded Subhashini Sharad Yadav, daughter of veteran leader Sharad Yadav. But here also JDU’s Niranjan Mehta won.
- Niranjan Kumar Mehta (JDU)-81,531 votes
- Subhashini Sharad Yadav (INC)-62,820 votes
- Margin of victory -18,711 votes
Note: This was the second consecutive victory of Niranjan Mehta, which further strengthened his political hold.
Political equation of Bihariganj – in whose hands?
The politics of Bihariganj is based on caste equations. Here the votes of Yadavs, other backward classes and scheduled castes of Kosi region play a decisive role. This is the reason why the hold of JDU and BJP alliance remains strong. But the challenge given by Congress in 2020 makes it clear that the contest in 2025 may become more interesting.
How effective will the strategy of JDU and BJP be?
JDU had lost in 2020, but the vote figures show that their vote share was quite strong. This time BJP and JDU are in the field together. Congress got only 8,226 votes in 2020. Even in 2015, Congress was weak. Now the existence of Congress in 2025 is in question – will the party play only a symbolic role or give a big surprise?
To whom will the people give their mandate?
The history of Bihpur seat shows that sometimes JDU and sometimes RJD have won here. The huge mandate of 2020 was in favor of RJD, but nothing is permanent in politics. This is the reason why the 2025 elections seem even more mysterious.
2025 elections – who will win?
Overall, the contest between RJD vs NDA in Bihpur Assembly Elections 2025 is going to be very interesting and mysterious. All eyes will be on whether Varuna Prasad will again hoist the flag of victory or the opposition will give a shocking result this time.
