Andhra bus fire: The tragic Kurnool bus fire incident claimed lives of nearly 20 people and injured several others. The ill-fated bus collided with a bike and burst into flames near Chinnatekur in Andhra Pradesh. The private bus reportedly did not have valid permits to operate.
The had a permit valid until April 4, 2028, while its fitness certificate expired on March 31, 2025. The vehicle’s insurance coverage remained valid until April 20, 2024 and the tax clearance was valid up to March 31, 2024. Its pollution certificate was until April 2, 2024. Additionally, the bus held an AITP (All India Tourist Permit) valid until July 27, 2023, with the corresponding AITP authorisation till April 27, 2024. These details are now being scrutinised as part of the ongoing investigation into the tragic fire.
The bus travelling to Bengaluru departed from Hyderabad at 9:30 pm. It was a AC Volvo Multi Axe Sleeper bus with 42 seats, out of which 40 seats were reserved.
