Project related international travel is also permitted. Under this, a maximum of 700 grants can be provided annually in all subject areas.

Who can apply for Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant?

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • OCI, PIO researchers, who are regularly employed in Indian institutions, can apply.
  • The applicant should have a degree like PhD, MD, MS, MDS, MVSc.
  • Must be holding a regular academic or research position.
  • Can apply within two years of joining the institution.
  • Age limit is 42 years. In which SC, ST, OBC, women, disabled people get a relaxation of 3 years.
  • Should not have previously received any funding from YSS, ECR, SRG, CRG, EMEQ or ANRF, SERB.
  • In other conditions only one proposal can be submitted in one call.
  • Under this, career grant is given only once, it is not possible to extend the duration of the project.
  • The project cannot be transferred unless it is a normal administrative change between government institutions.

Who cannot apply for PM ECRG?

  • Candidates like Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows, Guest Teachers, Consultants, Project Fellows cannot apply for this scheme.
  • Other than OCI (Overseas Citizen of India), PIO (Person of Indian Origin), Co-PI (Co-Principal Investigator) is not allowed.

How to apply for Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant?

  • First of all register online on ANRF portal https://www.anrfonline.in.
  • Enter biodata, photo, institute address etc. in the user profile.
  • Fill in the project title, summary, keywords, objective, expected results, budget, etc.
  • Upload all required documents in one PDF (less than 10MB).
