Chhattisgarh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has approved four new medical colleges and six construction projects. These schemes costing Rs 1,390 crore will give a new direction to health and medical education in the state.
Raipur. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, Chhattisgarh government has taken a historic step in the health sector. The tender rates of a total of six important construction projects including four new government medical colleges in the state have been approved. This decision was taken in the 51st Board of Directors meeting of Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited (CGMSC) held at its headquarters in Naya Raipur. The total cost of these projects will be more than Rs 1,390 crore. This step will expand medical education and treatment services in the state at a new pace.
Amount sanctioned for construction of medical college
In the meeting, the following rates were approved for the building construction projects of four new medical colleges-
- Manendragarh Medical College: ₹323.03 crore
- Kabirdham Medical College: ₹318.27 crore
- Janjgir-Champa Medical College: ₹318.27 crore
- Geedam Medical College: ₹326.53 crore
Besides, tender rates of ₹28.48 crore for 220-bed hospital building at Manendragarh and ₹79.52 crore for Government Ayurveda College and Hospital building at Bilaspur were approved.
Target of timely and quality construction
After the approval of the tender rates of these six projects, their construction work will start soon. It was ensured in the meeting that all the work is completed within the stipulated time frame and with high quality standards. Special emphasis was laid on transparency and quality.

After the completion of these projects, the people of the state will get state-of-the-art medical facilities. This will reduce dependence on big cities for treatment and strengthen health services at the local level.
New opportunities for medical education and employment
The establishment of new medical colleges will increase the scope of medical education in the state. Availability of doctors and paramedical staff will increase. Besides, new employment opportunities will open for the local youth and health services will reach rural and remote areas.

Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai is continuously working to strengthen health services. He said that the establishment of new medical colleges will give a new direction to both medical education and public health.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said that the aim of the government is to develop such a health infrastructure where every citizen gets quality and accessible medical facilities without any discrimination. He said that public health is the top priority of the state government.
