Light cold had started being felt even before Diwali and now further decline in temperature is being seen. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a new alert for the entire country. According to the department, there is a possibility of very heavy rain in South India between 23 and 24 October.
There will be heavy rain in these states
The Meteorological Department has warned that there may be heavy rain in many areas from Chennai to Bengaluru. Due to the remnants of monsoon, this rain may continue for a few days. The month of October is about to end and now winter has started knocking but at present, different weather patterns are being seen in different parts of the country. There is sunshine in many areas of Central India and the weather remains pleasant. At the same time, in eastern Indian cities like Kolkata, the sky is clear, but the air quality remains a cause for concern.

Pollution reached dangerous level
The worst situation is in Delhi-NCR, where pollution has reached dangerous levels. Here people are also having difficulty in breathing. AQI has doubled in many places. Breathing has become difficult in cities like Ghaziabad and Noida. At the same time, the air quality in cities like Lucknow, Prayagraj and Bareilly remains slightly better. According to the data of the State Pollution Control Board, AQI in Ghaziabad and Noida has crossed 300, which falls in the very poor category. The air here remains poisonous even several days after Diwali. Pollution levels have also increased rapidly in Punjab, Himachal, Gwalior and Jabalpur.
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain may occur in many areas of Konkan, Goa and Central Maharashtra on October 23. There is a possibility of sporadic rain with lightning in Konkan, Goa, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra during the next 5 days.
