GST collection record
The gross GST collection doubled in five years and reached a life time high of Rs 22.08 lakh crore in FY 2024-25, which was Rs 11.37 lakh crore in FY 2020-21. The gross GST collection touched its peak worth Rs 22.08 lakh crore in FY 2024-25, which is 9.4 percent more than the previous financial year. The special thing is that this collection has almost doubled on an annual basis in five years. The average monthly collection in FY 2024-25 was Rs 1.84 lakh crore, which was Rs 1.68 lakh crore in 2023-24 and Rs 1.51 lakh crore in 2021-22. According to experts, this monthly average collection can reach close to 2 lakh crore rupees in the coming years.
Number of taxpayers more than doubled
The number of taxpayers registered under GST has increased from 65 lakhs of 2017 to more than Rs 1.51 crore in eight years. A government statement on eight years of GST said that since its implementation, GST has shown a strong increase in revenue collection and tax base. This has constantly strengthened India’s fiscal state and has made indirect taxation more efficient and transparent. GST recorded its highest gross collection of Rs 22.08 lakh crore in 2024-25, which is an increase of 9.4 percent on an annual basis.
