Lokah OTT Release Update: Diwali Proves Damp Squib For Malayalam Audience

The Malayalam cinematic universe continues to be enthralled by the massive success of “Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra.” Since its theatrical debut on August 28, the film has proven to be a box office titan, amassing an impressive ₹181.85 crore in India.

Directed by Dominic Arun, the film presents a fresh and intriguing narrative set against the backdrop of Bengaluru’s cityscape. It introduces audiences to Chandra, a mysterious newcomer played by Kalyani Priyadarshan, who is advised to keep a low profile and avoid trouble.

Her story intertwines with her neighbours, Sunny (Naslen) and Venu (Chandu Salimkumar), who provide comedic relief. However, the plot quickly centers on the enigma surrounding Chandra’s presence, captivating viewers.

Despite its theatrical run concluding, the buzz around “Lokah” has only intensified, though for reasons unrelated to its cinematic acclaim. For over a month, the digital space has been flooded with persistent speculation and unconfirmed reports regarding the film’s OTT release.

This speculation recently reached a point that forced the film’s producer, Dulquer Salmaan, to directly address the rumours. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Salmaan issued a clear statement to set the record straight, writing, “Lokah isn’t coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements! #Lokah #WhatstheHurry.”

Despite this direct clarification, new rumours have since emerged, with dates like October 17 and October 20 being circulated, all of which have proven to be false. While a recent social media post from Jio Hotstar hinted that the film would arrive on the platform “soon,” it provided no specific date.

This has led to the conclusion that the eagerly awaited digital premiere will not coincide with the Diwali festival, leaving fans to continue awaiting an official announcement.
