President Trump has expressed hope for good relations and a fair trade deal with China. He will soon visit Malaysia, Japan and South Korea, where he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Washington DC: US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he wants good relations with China. He will soon visit Malaysia, Japan and South Korea. Talking about meeting Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Trump said, “I got an invitation to come to China. I will go there early next year. I will be in Malaysia, I will be in Japan, and some other places too. We will do kind of a mini tour. The United States and China have a very good relationship and he hopes to get a fair deal for both countries. I think we are going to make a wonderful trade deal with China.
His comment has come amid the ongoing trade tension between America and China. Trump imposed 57% tariffs on Chinese imports and China announced restrictions on rare-earth mineral exports on October 9. Trump said- If no agreement is reached by November 1, the US tariff on China may increase to 157%.
Trump said, I think China has respected us very much. They are paying us huge amounts of money in tariffs. As you know, they are paying 55%; That’s a lot of money. Many countries had taken advantage of America in the past, but now such practices will not be tolerated. If they don’t want to trade with us, China could be in big trouble. I don’t want them to get into trouble. I want them to progress. We want to progress together. Let us tell you, Gyeongju city of South Korea is hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting from 31 October to 1 November. While Malaysia is scheduled to host the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit from October 26-28.
