Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate from the assembly seat of Saran district of Bihar and Bhojpuri superstar Khesari Lal Yadav has declared that he has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 24.81 crore. Yadav, who filed the affidavit in his original name Shatrughan Yadav and is one of the well-known singers and actors of the most popular dialect of Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, joined the RJD last week. Voting will be held in Chapra in the first phase of Bihar assembly elections on 6 November. Yadav’s wife Chanda, a housewife, also attended the party in Patna on Thursday.

In the affidavit filed before the returning officer along with the nomination form, Yadav has declared that he has movable assets worth Rs 16.89 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 7.91 crore. His wife Chanda has movable assets worth Rs 90.02 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 6.49 crore. The singer, who is contesting elections for the first time, said, “My heart has always been with RJD. The Bhojpuri superstar has Rs 5 lakh in cash and his wife has Rs 2 lakh.
Yadav has several bank accounts and gold jewelery worth Rs 35 lakh. Yadav’s movable assets include a luxury car worth Rs 3 crore, Land Rover Defender, which he bought in 2023. Yadav has acted in about 100 films and has worked as a singer in more than 5,000 Bhojpuri songs. In this way, the total net worth of Khesari Lal Yadav is Rs 24.81 crore.
Yadav’s annual income decline
Yadav’s annual income in 2023-24 was Rs 73.5 lakh, which was Rs 95.02 lakh in 2022-23. According to the election affidavit, Yadav’s annual income in 2020-21 was Rs 1.01 crore. Yadav has claimed that his father, Mangru Yadav, initially worked as a street vendor in the morning and as a security guard at night. Khesari used to graze cattle and sell their milk in his childhood. Later, he moved to Delhi, where he started selling ‘Litti-Chokha’ with his parents and wife.
