‘Lazy’ Manchester United lift Premier League Summer Series trophy

New Delhi: Everton held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw but couldn’t prevent Ruben Amorim’s side from winning the Premier League Summer Series in Atlanta.

Everton equalised twice to claim their first point of the tournament in a game where new signing Bryan Mbeumo made his first appearance for United.

James Tarkowski foul on Amad Diallo earned United a penalty, which captain Bruno Fernandes converted to put United ahead on the 19th minute.

But Iliman Ndiaye put Everton level in the 40th minute from Idrissa Gueye’s cross after Vitalii Mykolenko had dispossessed Manuel Ugarte.

Second-half substitute Mason Mount put United ahead for the second time on 69 minutes, curling Fernandes’ pass past Jordan Pickford only for Everton to equalise again.

Ayden Heaven scored an own goal in the 75th minute when Amad’s attempted clearance hit him and sneaked into the net.
