Madhya Pradesh News: Govardhan festival, held on the next day of Diwali, is a symbol of the ancient Indian tradition of protection of nature, mountains and cow progeny. We get a direct glimpse of this tradition by Lord Krishna wearing Govardhan Mountain on his finger. Govardhan Puja is performed in this sacred memory of saving humanity. This festival inspires the promotion of cow wealth, which is important for the Indian rural economy and environmental protection. It includes the vision of life of the Indian society, in which the balance of nature, animals, humans and divinity is seen.

What resolution did CM Mohan Yadav government take?

There is a feeling of co-existence with nature and holistic development in our festival traditions. In this context, Govardhan festival is associated with coordination and conservation between nature and living beings. On this day, a symbol of the mountain is made from cow dung and it is worshipped. Mountains have an important contribution in the natural balance. Mountains coordinate water conservation, promotion and balancing of seasons. Due to this, rivers, ponds and other water sources remain safe. There is also a pledge to keep the environment safe in Govardhan Puja. Our effort is that through this festival the importance of nature and livestock should reach the new generation.

Madhya Pradesh is rich in cow progeny along with its natural wealth. 33 crore Gods and Goddesses reside in Mother Cow. We celebrated the year 2024-25 as the Year of Cow Protection and Promotion. We are trying to double the income of animal husbandry farmers. 9 percent of the country’s milk production is in Madhya Pradesh, our target is to increase it to 20 percent. For this, milk prosperity contact campaign is being run in every village of the state. Under the campaign, technical and practical information is being given to the cattle farmers by going door-to-door regarding breed improvement of animals, artificial insemination, vaccination of animals, health protection, balanced animal feed, animal nutrition etc. With all these efforts we will make Madhya Pradesh the milk capital.

Increased from Rs 20 per cow to Rs 40

I am satisfied that the Madhya Pradesh government is committed to cow rearing and cow promotion. We have increased the subsidy for cow sheds from Rs 20 per cow per day to Rs 40 per cow per day. Two years ago, the budget for the maintenance of cattle was Rs 90 crore, which was increased to Rs 250 crore and now the target is to increase this amount to Rs 600 crore.

Agreement with Shanal Dairy Development Board

I am happy to inform that under the guidance of our illustrious Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country’s first modern and self-sufficient compressed bio gas plant has been established in the cow shelter complex in Gwalior. Innovations like construction of new cow shelters, increasing the grant amount per cow, encouragement to cow producers, establishment of a modern plant to produce CNG from cow dung and agreement with the National Dairy Development Board have been made in the state.

2900 cow shelters in Madhya Pradesh

It is a matter of happiness for us that there are 2900 cow shelters in Madhya Pradesh to benefit the farmers and cattle rearers. 2203 cow shelters are being operated under the Chief Minister Cow Service Scheme. More than one thousand new cow shelters have been started in the last one year. Cow sheds have been opened in Municipal Corporation Gwalior, Ujjain and Indore for the shelter and maintenance of cow progeny. A cow shed with a capacity of 10 thousand cows is being constructed on 69.18 acres of land in Bhopal. Presently 6500 cows are being reared in the Cow Sanctuary Research and Production Centre, Salaria, District Agar-Malwa. Promotion of cow progeny in rural areas will be a major source of employment and self-employment through milk production. Dairy business also has an important contribution in the self-reliance of women.

Government is giving incentives to cattle farmers

Just as farmers were encouraged to make farming a profitable business in the state and our farmer brothers filled the stock of produce, in the same way cattle farmers producing milk are being encouraged. With this, cow rearing will increase in the state, traditional system of agriculture will get support and natural farming will get support. The production of chemical-free nutritious food and other items will be beneficial for health and will also play an important role in the economy of the state.

cow promotion employment generation

Cow promotion provides cultural strength to the society along with employment generation and creates a well-cultured, healthy and strong society, due to which the development of a sustainable and capable economy is possible. It is the good fortune of Madhya Pradesh that it has abundant forest wealth of Vindhyachal and Satpura Mountains. The prosperity and self-reliance of the state is linked to the conservation of mountains and cow progeny, which is the basis of progress of Madhya Pradesh and the country. I am happy that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the Madhya Pradesh government is determined to make rural India self-reliant through cow care, organic agriculture and milk production.

On the occasion of Govardhan festival, I request the people of the state that we all should together imbibe the resolve of Govardhan festival tradition and become a partner in building a developed Madhya Pradesh.
