- Prem Kumar (BJP)- 66,891 votes
- Priya Ranjan (INC) – 44,102 votes
- Margin of victory – 22,789 votes
- Important thing: This time Congress could not reduce the difference in votes and Prem Kumar won easily.
2010 elections: CPI suffered a crushing defeat
- BJP also performed brilliantly in the 2010 elections.
- Prem Kumar (BJP) – 55,618 votes
- Jalaluddin Ansari (CPI) – 27,201 votes
- Margin of victory – 28,417 votes
- Important thing: This election proved to be one-sided for Prem Kumar and further strengthened his political stature. That means Prem Kumar has a one-sided lead in three elections.
