Union Minister gave a big statement on India-Us trade deal, India will not compromise in these areas

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has given a big statement.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday that talks regarding the proposed trade agreement between India and America are going on in a very positive and cordial environment. He stressed that India will fully protect the interests of farmers, fishermen and small industries (MSMEs).

Goyal said, I think the talks are going on in a good atmosphere. I have said many times that trade agreements (FTAs) or any trade negotiations are not based on time limits but on the interests of the country. There will be no agreement until the interests of India’s farmers, fishermen and MSME sector are completely protected. The Union Minister further said that the talks are going on in a constructive manner and whenever any decision is taken, we will definitely let you know. This statement has come when America is demanding some concessions in India’s agriculture sector.

The aim is to increase India-America trade

Recently, trade talks were held in America under the leadership of Commerce Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal from the Indian side. Last month, Piyush Goyal himself participated in these discussions with a delegation in New York. The objective of this proposed bilateral trade agreement is to increase India-US trade from the current $191 billion to $500 billion by 2030.

America is the biggest trade partner

According to government data, America remained India’s largest trading partner for the fourth consecutive year (2024–25). The total trade between the two countries was $131.84 billion, of which India’s exports were $86.5 billion. However, due to some American tariffs, trade between the two countries has been affected. Like 25% additional tax on some Indian products and 25% import duty on Russian crude oil. India has called these taxes unfair and unnecessary.

Talks continue between the two countries

Government sources say that talks are going on between the two countries at many levels and both are working towards a win-win solution. India’s exports to the US have been growing steadily, and about 45% of Indian exports are exempt from US taxes. Sources also said that America is expanding the supply chain to reduce dependence on China, due to which the possibility of early completion of the India-US trade agreement has increased. Both sides have said that this agreement will be beneficial for both the countries.
