Stomach Cancer Symptoms: Stomach cancer is a serious disease in which abnormal cells start growing rapidly in the inner layers of the stomach. This cancer grows slowly and its symptoms are often not visible in the initial stages. Its chances are higher in men than in women, especially in people above 50 years of age. Excessive smoking, alcohol consumption, excessive salt or spicy food, and infection with H. pylori bacteria increase its risk. Why does stomach cancer occur?

This disease can take hold quickly in people who eat less vegetables and fruits or whose diet is unhealthy.

In the initial stages, these signs may appear mild and temporary, hence are often ignored. As cancer progresses, the patient may experience problems such as feeling full even after eating a little food, frequent nausea or vomiting, and swelling in the stomach.
In some cases, difficulty in swallowing food, heaviness and constant fatigue are also seen. If the tumor is bleeding into the lining of the intestine, the stool may turn black or appear bloody, and there may also be blood in the vomit. Other symptoms include weakness, anemia and abdominal swelling. If these complaints persist for more than four to six weeks, one should immediately contact a gastroenterologist for diagnosis and examination.
