Ayodhya created a new history in Deepotsav 2025. More than 23 crore devotees reached Ramnagari till June. Due to the initiative and better facilities of Yogi government, Ayodhya became a major spiritual tourism center for devotees from India and abroad.
There is an ocean of reverence in Ramnagari Ayodhya. Ayodhya has created a new history this year amidst the sparkle of the festival of lights and the divinity of the Ram temple. More than 23 crore devotees will reach Ayodhya by June in 2025, which is the biggest record till date. From Saryu banks to Ram Janmabhoomi, crowds of devotees coming from every direction have made Ayodhya the capital of devotion.
Deepotsav became a symbol of the grandeur of Ayodhya
In line with the vision of the Yogi government, Deepotsav has strengthened the identity of Ayodhya not just as a religious city but as a global center of art, culture and tourism. This event, which is being celebrated continuously for the last eight years, has made Ayodhya shine on the world stage.

The number of devotees is increasing year after year
When the festival of lights started in 2017, about 1.78 crore devotees had reached Ayodhya. After this this number increased every year –
- 2018: 1.95 crores
- 2019: 2.04 crores
- 2020: Decline during Corona period, about 61 lakh
- 2021: Increase again, 1.57 crores
- 2022: 2.39 crores
- 2023: 5.75 crores
- 2024: 16.44 crores
- And now by 2025 (January to June) only 23.82 crore devotees have reached Ayodhya.
These include 23,81,64,744 Indian and 49,993 foreign tourists. This data has been released by Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, Lucknow.
Facilities increased due to efforts of Yogi government
On the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, there has been a major change in the infrastructure in Ayodhya.
- Six-lane highway, world-class airport,
- modern railway station,
- And developed ghat area – all these have made the journey of the devotees convenient and safe. This is the reason why the number of devotees coming to Ayodhya is increasing rapidly every year.
Employment opportunities increased due to influx of devotees
The increasing popularity of Ayodhya is proving to be a boon for the local residents as well. Thousands of new jobs have been generated in businesses related to hotels, guides, transportation, handicrafts and eateries. With the increasing number of foreign tourists, local culture, products and folk art are also getting new recognition.
Deepotsav: Confluence of tourism, economy and faith
Ayodhya’s Deepotsav is no longer just a religious event, but has become the center of both faith and economy. Ramnagari, bathed in the light of millions of lamps, has now become not just a city, but a living symbol of the cultural soul of India.
This record of devotees in 2025 shows that due to the efforts of Yogi government, Ayodhya has now become the largest spiritual tourism center of India. This number will increase further in the coming years, because Ayodhya is no longer just seen – it is felt.
