The Brazilian football team will now use ‘tactical wristbands’ for set-pieces. This will help in conveying the coach’s instructions to the players in the noise. Players will immediately understand the next move from the code written on the wristband.
New York: The Brazilian football team is now going to try an old trick with rugby teams on the field. To avoid any mistakes on occasions like set-pieces, players will wear wristbands on their wrists. It is often seen that coaches are unable to convey their message to the players by shouting amidst the noise of thousands of fans. In such a situation, players also get confused as to what to do.
To deal with this problem, Brazil will now resort to ‘Tactical Wristband’. Important things like the game code, formation and which player should stay where will be written on these wristbands. As soon as a set-piece is achieved, the coach will indicate a number or color code. Players will immediately understand what move to make by looking at the band on their wrist. This will be very useful especially at the time of throw-in and corner, because if there is a delay in this, the opportunity may be missed. With the help of wristband, decisions can be taken quickly without any mistake.
The idea comes from coach Carlo Ancelotti and assistant coach Francesco Mauri, responsible for set-pieces. The players have also been given training for this. The team’s big defenders Marquinhos and Gabriel Mahalgas practiced a lot with these wristbands before the first match of the World Cup. Now this new strategy can be seen on the field in the match against Morocco.
