Sunrisers Leeds New Captain: Sunrisers Leeds, the franchise owned by Kavya Maran, has announced the name of its new captain for the magnificent tournament The Hundred to be played in England. This time, the team has taken a big bet on England’s 28-year-old star batsman Jack Crawley and handed him the captaincy of the team. Earlier the command of the team was in the hands of Harry Brook. But this season, Brook will take the field as a batsman without any captaincy pressure, so that he can pay full attention to his batting and score runs freely for the team.

Indian businessman Kavya Maran’s Sunrisers franchise is now all set to make a splash on the field in ‘The Hundred’ with its new team and new captain. Crawley will have a big responsibility to make the team champion this season. Jack Crawley was earlier associated with this team as a batsman. Jack Crawley has played 23 matches in The Hundred so far and has scored 540 runs at an average of 30.00, which also includes 3 half-centuries. Whereas, in the last season, he scored 280 runs in 9 matches at an average of 40.00.

Let us tell you, Chennai-based Indian media conglomerate, Sun Group, had acquired Northern Superchargers early last year for Rs 1155 crore. Yorkshire chose to sell its 51% stake in Superchargers in addition to ECB’s 49% stake, meaning Sun Group owns 100% of the company. Northern Superchargers is a franchise based in Leeds. This is the reason why Kavya Maran’s trademark ‘Sunrisers’ along with ‘Leeds’ are included in her new name. Just like Kavya Maran’s team name in IPL is Sunrisers Hyderabad and in SA 20, Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
