Patna: In Bagaha, Bihar, a husband strangled his wife to death after a domestic dispute. After the murder, he hanged the body from a mango tree to make it look like suicide. Police have arrested the accused husband Gautam. The killed woman has been identified as 25-year-old Hemlata Kumari. The body of the woman was found hanging from a mango tree in an orchard near Garkatti village. On receiving the information, police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, fingerprint experts and forensic team also reached the spot and investigated. The scientific investigation by the police itself indicated that it was not suicide but murder. On the basis of suspicion, the police detained Hemlata’s husband Gautam and interrogated him. During interrogation he confessed to his crime. Police said that after a fight between the husband and wife, Gautam beat up Hemlata. Then he took him to a nearby sugarcane field and strangled him to death.
According to the police, after the murder he kept the body hidden for some time. Later, in the dark of the night, so that no one could find out, the body was hanged from a mango tree so that everyone considered it a suicide. On the complaint of the father of murdered Hemlata, the police have registered a case of dowry harassment and murder. The accused was presented in the court, from where he has been sent on remand.
