Aurai Assembly Election 2025: Aurai assembly seat of Muzaffarpur district has a special identity in the politics of Bihar. This seat has not only been politically popular but is also known for its literary heritage, because the famous litterateur Ramvriksh Benipuri was elected MLA from here. The last three elections (2010, 2015 and 2020) saw fierce contests between BJP and RJD. Now the competition is going to be interesting in 2025 also.
Aurai assembly election, 2010
- Winner: Ram Surat Rai (BJP)-38,422 votes
- Loser: Surendra Kumar (RJD)-26,681 votes
Note: In 2010, the people of Aurai expressed confidence in BJP. Despite the caste equation, Ram Surat Rai won by a margin of 11,741 votes.
Aurai Assembly elections, 2015
- Winner: Surendra Kumar (RJD)-66,958 votes
- Loser: Ram Surat Rai (BJP) – 56,133 votes
Note: In 2015, the wave of grand alliance and social equation gave advantage to RJD. Surendra Kumar gave a huge blow to BJP by winning by a margin of about 10,825 votes.
2020 Aurai Assembly Elections
- Winner: Ram Surat Kumar (BJP)-90,479 votes
- Loser: Aftab Alam (CPI-ML) – 42,613 votes
Note: BJP made a strong comeback in 2020. Instead of defeating his old rival, Ram Surat Rai defeated the CPI(ML) candidate this time. The victory margin was also big – 47,866 votes. This further strengthened the support base of BJP.
2025 Aurai Assembly Elections-Equations and Suspense
- BJP can only field its old stalwart Ram Surat Rai.
- RJD can bring Surendra Kumar or a new face.
- CPI(ML) and other left parties can also play the role of vote cutter.
- Major issues will be: employment, migration, education, canal project and farmers’ problems.
