Indian cricket fans got their first look at the national team’s new ODI jersey during a pre-series photoshoot at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
The updated kit now features the Apollo Tyres logo prominently on the front, replacing Dream11, which had been India’s lead sponsor until recently. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Kumar Reddy represented India at the shoot, while Australia sent Mitchell Starc and Travis Head. All-rounder Axar Patel attended a casual press interaction separately.
The reaction to the new design has been mixed. Some fans appreciated the modern look and clean aesthetics, but others criticised the size of the Apollo Tyres logo, noting that it dominates the front of the jersey and has pushed the “INDIA” tag lower than in previous versions. The debate over the jersey’s design reflects fans’ high expectations for India’s on-field presentation as the team gears up for the upcoming series.
India is set to face Australia in a highly anticipated three-match ODI series starting October 19. Excitement is particularly high with the return of star batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who will be playing in ODIs after recently retiring from T20Is and Tests. Their presence is expected to be a major draw for fans both in the stadium and watching from home.
Travis Head and Axar Patel attended the candid pre-match presser.
came after the Indian government passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025 in August, which banned real-money gaming. Dream11, whose business model relies on such gaming, withdrew from its contract with the BCCI, leaving a vacancy for the lead sponsorship. Apollo Tyres stepped in to fill the role, giving the team a new commercial partner as they head into the series against Australia.
