Great result, but there is a queue for toilet

This government college left even the private colleges behind by giving an excellent result of 77% in the PU exam (12th board) last year. 94% students passed in Commerce, 81.2% in Science and 67% in Arts. Not only this, 12 girl students scored 100 out of 100 in Kannada. The number of people taking admission here has been continuously increasing for the last 5 years.

There is competition for admission

This year, a total of 565 girl students have taken admission, including 320 in first year PU (11th) and 245 in second year PU (12th). Due to the excellent results of the college, girl students from nearby taluks like Koppal, Mundargi, Sandur, Ranibennur, Shirahatti, Hagribommanahalli and Harapanahalli are also coming to study here.

But there is a bitter truth behind this success. There is a severe lack of facilities in the college. There are only 4 toilets for 565 girl students, which are built in a single room. Girls have to wait in long lines to go to the toilet. Even there are no separate toilets for male and female lecturers.

There are only 6 rooms for studies also. In a classroom which has the capacity to seat 80 girl students, more than 150 girl students somehow adjust and sit there. There are 16 lecturers in the college, out of which 6 are guest lecturers. The post of Principal is also vacant. Arts, Commerce, Science, Education and Computer Science are taught here.

However, local MLA Krishna Naik has taken note of the development of the college. He has made furniture, air-conditioned computer lab, science lab and seating arrangements from his own funds. But the college playground is still incomplete.

The college still desperately needs at least 6 more classrooms, a hi-tech toilet complex and an auditorium. The situation becomes even worse during rainy days. Due to no drainage system, the entire campus becomes like a pond.

Incharge Principal of the college A. Kotragowda says, “There is a rush for admission due to good results. We have 565 girl students, but there is a shortage of rooms and toilets. We have informed the MLA about this.”
