Did ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ fail to attract audiences despite positive reviews? Now will Kangana Ranaut’s new film be able to handle the weekend?
Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ was released in theaters this Friday, but its opening at the box office was much weaker than expected. The film, based on the bravery of hospital staff during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has received critical acclaim, yet viewership was disappointing in its initial days. The film faced tough competition from films like Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Main Wapsar Aaunga’ and Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘Governor’. The film’s first day earnings disappointed. Now all eyes are on whether positive word of mouth will be able to carry the film over the weekend or not.
How much did ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ earn on the first day?
According to the initial data of trade website Sacknilk, ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ collected around Rs 1 crore nett on the first day in India. Its gross collection figures were Rs 1.19 crore. A total of 2181 shows of the film ran on the opening day and the average occupancy throughout the day was around 11 percent. Slower start than Kangana Ranaut’s previous films
If we compare Kangana Ranaut’s recent films, then the opening of ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ has become one of the weakest films. ‘Emergency’, released in the year 2025, had earned Rs 2.50 crore on the first day, while ‘Tejas’ had taken an opening of Rs 1.25 crore. Adivi Shesh starrer ‘Major’, based on 26/11 attacks, did a great business of Rs 7 crore on the first day of its release. In such a situation, the beginning of ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ is being considered quite lackluster.
The story of the film is inspired by a true incident.
‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’ has been written and directed by Manoj Tapadia. The film is based on the bravery of the medical staff deployed at Cama Hospital during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
