How was Shri Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra
According to Hindu belief, Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Shri Krishna was irrefutable. When Lord Krishna wielded the Sudarshan Chakra with 109 spokes, it used to rotate rapidly and return to his finger after destroying the enemies. According to mythological belief, this Sudarshan Chakra was given to Lord Shri Krishna by Parshuram in Dwapara Yuga. However, it is also believed that this chakra was present with him since birth. Lord Shri Krishna used it from time to time to protect religion and destroy unrighteousness. In the Vedas it is considered a symbol of Lord Shri Vishnu. The Sudarshan Chakra which Lord Vishnu wears on his index finger, his full incarnation Shri Krishna used to wear the same on his pinky finger.
When did Krishna use Sudarshan Chakra?
In mythology, there is a description of Lord Shri Krishna running the Sudarshan Chakra many times. It is believed that at the time of Rajsuya Yagya, Shishupal was insulting Lord Krishna by abusing him, but he remained silent till his 100 abuses because he had promised his aunt, who was the sister of Vasudev, that he would forgive his 100 crimes. But when his cousin brother Shishupal started insulting him even after this, he killed him by using his Sudarshan Chakra.
It is believed that when Shishupala’s finger got injured while performing Sudarshan Chakra and it started bleeding, Draupadi tore her anklet and tied it on him. This incident is also seen in connection with Rakshabandhan. According to mythological belief, apart from killing Shishupal, Lord Shri Krishna also used Sudarshan Chakra to kill the demon Narkasur.
Then the sun was covered with Sudarshan Chakra
On the 14th day of the Mahabharata war, Arjun took a vow that if he could not kill Jayadratha, the murderer of his son Abhimanu, before sunset, he would take samadhi. After this, Duryodhana’s entire army engaged in security to save him. By evening, when Arjun started getting disappointed due to not being able to kill Jayadratha, Shri Krishna covered the sun with his Sudarshan Chakra. Since no one could fight with anyone after sunset, Jayadratha came in front of Arjun and started celebrating. Then Shri Krishna removed his Sudarshan Chakra from Surya and Arjun, taking the opportunity, killed him.
