RLJP leader Suraj Bhan Singh resigned from the party alleging lack of internal democracy. This is a big blow for Pashupati Paras, whose alliance talks with RJD have also failed. Now there is speculation about Suraj Bhan joining RJD.
Patna: A major political development was seen in Bihar politics on Wednesday when Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) Central Parliamentary Board Chairman and former MP Suraj Bhan Singh resigned from all posts and primary membership of the party. This resignation is being considered a big blow for Pashupati Kumar Paras-led RLJP, especially when the party is struggling over alliance and seat sharing for the Bihar Assembly elections.
Suraj Bhan Singh cited ‘complete destruction of internal democracy’ as the main reason behind leaving the party. He clarified in his resignation letter that no decision in the party was taken collectively by the national leadership.
Ram Vilas Paswan’s legacy and rebellion
Suraj Bhan Singh showed emotion in his resignation letter and said that he worked with late leader Late Ram Vilas Paswan since the beginning of his political career and worked to build the organization for two decades. He said that despite his opposition, even when the party was disbanded, he remained with the party with full sincerity.
He stressed that none of his posts matter for the honor and respect of thousands of workers of Ram Vilas Paswan and he is ready to make any sacrifice to save the legacy of Ram Vilas Paswan. Surajbhan Singh said with a sad heart that Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party has now completely deviated from the ideology, principles and thoughts of Ram Vilas Paswan, due to which he is resigning.
Speculation of joining RJD intensifies
The news has spread like wildfire in the political circles that Surajbhan Singh may soon join Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). According to sources, an internal agreement with RJD could also be a major reason behind his resignation. There is talk that RJD may make his wife and former MP Veena Devi a candidate from Mokama assembly seat. In Mokama, he is likely to face a direct and tough fight with powerful leader Anant Singh, due to which this seat will become the biggest hotspot this time. Not only this, Surajbhan Singh’s brother and former MP Chandan Singh also has a strong possibility of getting ticket from RJD, due to which at least two members of his family can be seen in key roles in this election.
Double blow to Paras: Alliance talks with RJD break down
Surajbhan Singh’s resignation comes at a time for RLJP chief Pashupati Kumar Paras when he is already facing a major crisis. Quoting sources, it is reported that the ongoing talks between Pashupati Kumar Paras and RJD regarding seat sharing have broken down. It was reported that RJD had offered Paras only three seats in exchange for merging his party with Rashtriya Janata Dal, which Paras rejected. After the talks broke down, Pashupati Paras has now explored the possibility of forming an alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM in the Bihar Assembly elections.
