Amidst the news of split in TMC, why is Shatrughan Sinha’s statement about Mamata Banerjee in discussion? Why did Shatrughan Sinha call Mamata Banerjee his only leader? Did Shatrughan Sinha cite greed and pressure as the reason behind leaders leaving the party?
TMC Crisis Latest Update: Amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Trinamool Congress (TMC) and reports of a possible break in the party, MP Shatrughan Sinha on Friday (June 12) reiterated his full support to party chief Mamata Banerjee. He clearly said that he has no intention of leaving the party or joining any other political party.
Told Mamata Banerjee as his only leader
Shatrughan Sinha said that Mamata Banerjee is his only leader and he stands firmly with her in this difficult time. He said that he has always been with the people in their happiness and sorrow and will not leave Mamata Banerjee even in the present situation. He said, “I was with them earlier also and will be with them in future also. At present I have no intention of joining any other party or forming any new political alliance.”
Mamta Banerjee’s leadership highly praised
Sinha described Mamata Banerjee as a wise, experienced and successful leader. He said that in today’s political environment, getting 41 percent votes for a party is no small achievement. According to him, this shows that the public’s trust in the leadership of Mamata Banerjee is still intact and achieving such success is not within the reach of every political party.
Questions raised on leaders leaving the party
When asked about the leaders who have decided to leave the party in recent times, Shatrughan Sinha said that leaving the party at such a time raises many questions. He said that when the party is going through difficult times, the leaders should stand with the organization. He also raised the question as to why some leaders chose a different path during the most challenging times of the party.
Leaders accused of copying Mamata
Without naming any leader, Shatrughan Sinha said that many people kept trying to adopt the style of “Didi”, but when the party was in trouble, the same people backed down. He said that there could be reasons behind the decisions of some leaders like greed, fear or pressure from investigating agencies. Sinha reiterated, “None of them is my leader. I have only one leader and that is Mamata Banerjee. Mamata Banerjee and only Mamata Banerjee.”
Also reacted on Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee controversy
Shatrughan Sinha also expressed his opinion on the discussions arising within the party regarding the working style of Abhishek Banerjee. On the concerns raised by senior leader Kalyan Banerjee regarding the functioning of Abhishek Banerjee, he said that any kind of complaint or disagreement should be raised on the internal forums of the party. He described Abhishek Banerjee as an excellent intellectual and said that issues should be resolved through dialogue within the organization.
Rejected speculations about joining BJP
In response to a question on the possibility of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shatrughan Sinha admitted that he has been associated with the BJP for about 30 years. However, he clarified that at present he has no intention of going anywhere else. He said that he will always be grateful to those who supported him in his good and bad times. He specifically mentioned Mamata Banerjee and said that in difficult times she gave him opportunities and expressed confidence. Sinha said, “I do not want to take anyone’s name, but among those who supported me, especially in difficult times, Mamata ji was at the forefront. Now my leader is Mamata Banerjee and will remain the same. At present I have no intention of going anywhere else.”
