Marcus Trescothic Breaks His Silence On Joe Root vs Prasidh Krishna Heated Exchange, Says, ‘Just The Usual Stuff You Hear In A….’

IND vs ENG 5th Test: Marcus Trescothic, who is England’s batting coach, tried to dismiss the heated exchange, which occurred between Joe Root and Prasidh Krishna in the fifth Test match at the Oval, and reckoned that there was nothing serious.

The incident occurred on the second day as tempers flared from both sides.

Root, who is usually known for being calm, didn’t stop when Krishna aimed at him initially during the first over. And as the match progressed, Root got visibly provoked as he was seen replying to a few verbal jabs from Krishna in the 24th over.

The heated exchange aggravated, and the on-field umpire Kumar Dharamsena had to intervene and try to separate both players before things got out of hand. Although Trescothic admitted that the way Root reacted was unlike him, he also revealed that it wasn’t anything serious.

“Nothing major-just the usual stuff you hear in a competitive game. Joe reacted a bit differently this time, but it wasn’t anything serious,” Trescothic told reporters during the post-match press conference.

Trescothic also talked about the incident when Akash Deep wrapped his hand around Ben Duckett after getting him out. When Duckett was seen going back to the pavilion, after scoring a gritty knock of 43 runs and also stitching a partnership of 92 runs with Zak Crawley, Akash was then seen walking towards him and had put his hand around Ben’s shoulder and was seen getting involved in a heated exchange, and also gave him a fiery send-off.

“Yeah, that was different! I joked that in my time, some players might’ve just dropped an elbow instead. But no harm done-just one of those moments. You see lots of words and little incidents throughout a series, but that one was more unusual,” he concluded.

The ongoing Test match is well-balanced, where the Shubman Gill-led side is leading by 52 runs and with eight wickets remaining. Around 16 wickets fell on the second day as it was a day that was dominated by the bowlers.

Batters like Harry Brook and Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed half-centuries apiece, which showed their grit and resilience on a tricky surface. Praisdh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj took four wicket-hauls each.
