Did Jaspal Rana die because of reaching the hospital late? Experts told

Shooter Jaspal Rana passes away.

On Friday morning a news shocked everyone. Shooter Jaspal Rana, also known as Golden Boy, died due to heart failure. The reason for this has been stated as heart attack in the statement issued by the hospital administration. Now questions began to arise as to how a player who was usually physically fit became a victim of a heart attack!

Dr. Professor Tarun Kumar, Director of Cardiac Unit of Moolchand Medanta, told in a special conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsh that there is a golden hour in cardiac cases. If the patient reaches the hospital within one to three hours of pain, then his chances of treatment and survival are better.

late in understanding the pain

Dr. Tarun told that when Jaspal Rana started having pain, it is possible that he mistook it for pain. Actually, sometimes there is pain in many ways which is a symbol of heart attack. For example, some people have chest pain, some people have pain in their hands. In such a situation, it is important for you to understand what this pain is like and if you do not understand then you should immediately contact the doctor. Generally, people have this opinion about chest pain that it is caused due to gastric gas and this is where confusion occurs which later on becomes the cause of death.

The operation is ineffective due to delay!

Dr. Tarun told that many times it happens that the patient misses the golden hour and reaches the hospital after that. By the time he reaches the hospital, it is too late and even if surgery and other measures are taken after this, it is very difficult. In these patients, even after stent placement, many times such a situation occurs within one to three days in which the patient suffers a severe cardiac attack and the patient dies, as happened in the case of Jaspal Rana.

What is the statement of the hospital administration?

In a statement issued by Dr. Balbir Singh, Group Chairman Cardiac Sciences, Pan Max and Chief of Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket, it was informed that Jaspal Rana had suffered a severe heart attack, which was three days old. Before reaching the hospital, he was traveling and was experiencing persistent chest pain. When he reached the hospital, his condition was very serious. The artery responsible for the heart attack was completely blocked.

The investigation revealed that the pumping capacity of his heart had become very weak and he was suffering from heart failure. Patients who arrive at the hospital late after a heart attack are at risk for serious complications, including cardiac rupture (a tear in the heart wall), which can lead to sudden death. Rana’s condition had improved a lot and he was about to be discharged from the hospital today but unfortunately he suffered a sudden cardiac rupture while sleeping, due to which he died.

Jaspal Rana was the golden boy

Rana recently fell ill during the return flight of the Indian contingent from the ISSF World Cup held in Munich, Germany. As soon as he landed in Delhi, he was immediately admitted to Max Saket Hospital and stents were inserted. Rana’s family includes his wife Reena Rana, daughter Devanshi, son Yuvraj, father Narayan Singh Rana and his sister Sushma Singh and younger brother Subhash Rana.

Rana worked as a high performance coach for Indian pistol shooters. The government honored him with the prestigious Dronacharya Award in 2020 for his contribution to the sport and in grooming the next generation of shooters.
