Complaint lodged on the statement of Dharamtala protest

A businessman has filed a complaint against him, alleging that his statement could incite communal tension. Internal rebellion increased in TMC

Meanwhile, the ongoing dissatisfaction within the Trinamool Congress has deepened. Dissident party MP Jagadish Chandra Barma Basunia has claimed that 19 Lok Sabha MPs are with his faction and they are preparing to get themselves recognized as the “real TMC” in Parliament. He said that a letter in this regard has been submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and soon the delegation will meet him and present its demands. According to Basunia, so far 19 MPs have supported the signature campaign that started on June 8. However, this claim has not been confirmed by the party leadership.

Kirti Azad’s allegations rejected

Controversy has also increased regarding allegations of pressure and political inducement on rebel MPs. Rejecting the allegations made by TMC MP Kirti Azad, Basunia said that this decision of the MPs is completely voluntary and no pressure or greed is involved in it.

He also supported the statement of senior leader Kalyan Banerjee in which he had raised questions on the role of party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

Crisis deepened due to resignations

The biggest concern for Trinamool Congress is the continuous resignations. Recently, Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Chik Baraik resigned from both the party and Parliament. Before this, Sukhendu Shekhar Rai and Sushmita Dev had also separated from the party. These continuous resignations have made public the ongoing tussle regarding leadership within the party.

Open resentment about Abhishek Banerjee

Senior party leader Kalyan Banerjee had recently made a scathing attack on Abhishek Banerjee. He even said that if all leadership responsibilities are not taken back from Abhishek, it will be difficult for him to remain in the party. This statement has clearly indicated that serious differences exist within the party regarding leadership.

Many senior leaders are still with Mamata

However, amidst the growing political crisis, many senior leaders of the party are still seen standing in support of Mamata Banerjee. Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy, Shatrughan Sinha and Pratima Mandal along with Rajya Sabha MP Babul Supriyo have denied being part of any rebel group. These leaders say that they stand firmly with the party and its leadership.

Signs of new equations in Bengal politics

Political analysts believe that if the claims of the disgruntled MPs are proven true, then the Trinamool Congress may face a major existential crisis. On the other hand, the complaint filed against Mamata Banerjee can also further intensify the political debate. In the coming days, the rebel group’s claim before the Lok Sabha Speaker and the direction of the police investigation will decide which way the politics of Bengal will turn.
