Stock Market Holidays March 2024: In March 2024, both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will observe three specific trading holidays, in addition to weekends.
These closures coincide with public holidays, during which trading activities in the equity sector, equity derivative segment, and SLB segment are suspended.
The holiday schedule for March includes the following dates:
- March 8 (Friday): Mahashivratri
- March 25 (Monday): Holi
- March 29 (Friday): Good Friday
It’s noteworthy that January and February 2024 also had designated trading holidays. On January 22, the markets were closed due to the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, which was a last-minute addition to the holiday list. Additionally, on January 26, the markets remained closed in observance of Republic Day.
March 2024 will witness the stock market being closed for trading on three occasions, while February experienced no trading holidays and January had one. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will adhere to the public holiday list, ensuring no trading activities occur in the equity sector, equity derivative segment, and SLB segment during these periods.
Taking into account the January 22 holiday, the total number of trading holidays for the year now amounts to 15. Looking ahead, April will see market closures on the 11th (Id-Ul-Fitr) and the 17th (Ram Navami). Subsequently, May 1 (Maharashtra Day), June 7 (Bakrid), July 17 (Muharram), August 15 (Independence Day), October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti), November 1 (Diwali), November 25 (Guru Nanak Jayanti), and December 25 (Christmas) are also scheduled as non-trading days.
