The spell at the Oval was the sixth instance of Siraj taking a four-wicket haul on English soil. The star Indian pacer took two four-fors in India’s famous victory at Lord’s in 2021 before also taking one each in the 2022 Edgbaston Test against England as well as the 2023 World Test Championship final at the Oval against Australia. He also added to his tally in India’s victory at Birmingham in this series.

Among Siraj’s four-fors, there is just one five-wicket haul, which came during the Shubman Gill-led side’s 336-run victory in the second Test of the ongoing tour.

With his incredible display at the Oval, Siraj broke Jasprit Bumrah’s record for the most four-wicket hauls by an Indian in England. Although, the latter has four wickets is the first Asian pacer since Waqar Younis to take six four-wicket hauls in England. Waqar’s had held the record for 29 years since his sixth four-for in England in 1996.
