Ford India Comeback: Company Plans To Cater Premium And SUV Market With Mustang, Endeavour And Upcoming Creta-Rival

Ford India Comeback: American automobile manufacturer Ford Motors is reportedly planning to re-enter the Indian automotive market. These rumours are being triggered as the manufacturer has recently been filing patents for several new models in the country.

Ford Motors exited the Indian automobile market in 2021 due to low sales in the country. The multiple models patented by the manufacturer include –

New-Gen Ford Endeavour

Ford’s most exciting launch in the country is anticipated to be the new generation Ford Endeavour SUV. It is expected that the new-gen Ford Endeavour will be launched in India later this year. In terms of design, the SUV will be completely revamped featuring C-shaped LED headlights, a larger grille, new front bumper, new alloy wheels, chrome accents, and LED taillights. Within its interiors, there will be a new dashboard layout, a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a new steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster. The powertrain is likely to retain the same single-turbo engine producing 170 bhp and 420 Nm of torque.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is likely to be brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) under an import rule permitting up to 2,500 units without homologation. If launched, it is expected to be priced around Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). The Mustang Mach-E would join the segment of luxury EVs in India, such as the Mercedes-Benz EQE, BMW iX, and Audi Q8 e-tron.

Ford Compact SUV

The American automaker has patented a new design for this SUV, which is not currently available in any global markets. Post its launch, Ford’s compact SUV will compete against popular models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate and MG Astor.
