Once again the stage for India-Pakistan clash is going to be set on the cricket field. Again two arch rival countries are going to clash with each other. This time the occasion is ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, where Team India will enter as a contender for the title. At the same time, Pakistani team will hope to win some matches somehow. Especially registering a win against India will be a big goal for Pakistan, which is the goal of most Pakistani teams. But it does not seem that they will be ahead of the ODI World Champion Indian team, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, because the record of the Indian team is strong even on the ground of Edgbaston.
India and Pakistan have been placed in Group-1 in the Women’s T20 World Cup, where both the teams will start their campaign by facing each other. This match between India and Pakistan women’s teams will be played on Sunday, June 14 and the venue chosen for it is Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. Birmingham is a city where many immigrants from South Asian countries including India and Pakistan live, due to which this match is going to be a superhit.
But apart from filling the stadium, the match should also be a superhit on the field. Whether this will happen or not will be known only after 7 pm on June 14. Only then will we know who will win. But from the perspective of history, Team India seems to have the upper hand. The reason for this is not only the overall record of India-Pakistan, but also the history of performance of both on the ground of Edgbaston.
There has been only one clash between the women’s teams of India and Pakistan at Edgbaston. In this match played in Commonwealth Games 2022, India defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets. Apart from this, India’s performance has been fine on this ground. Team India has played 6 T20s against all the teams in Edgbaston, in which it has won 3 and lost 3. Whereas Pakistan has lost all the three matches played here.
As far as the overall T20 record between India and Pakistan is concerned, it is also completely in favor of India. 16 matches have been played between the two, out of which 13 have been won by the Indian women’s team and only 3 by Pakistan. Coming back to Edgbaston, here not only the Indian women’s team but also the men’s team has dominated Pakistan. No T20 match has been played between the men’s team of India and Pakistan in Edgbaston, but there have been 3 ODI matches between the two and out of these, 2 matches have been won by the Indian team while one match has gone to Pakistan.
