New Delhi: Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked up four wickets each as England bowled out for 247 runs in the first innings of the fifth Test at the Kennington Oval in London. Siraj removed Harry Brook for 53 as the hosts managed to take 23-run lead.
All-rounder Chris Woakes didn’t walk out to bat as he was ruled out of the match due to a shoulder injury. The hosts got off to a great start as Crawley and Duckett forged a 92-run partnership for the opening wicket. But Akash Deep broke the opening partnership by getting Duckett and gave him a send-off.
Prasidh removed Crawley on 64, who tried to heave the ball to the boundary but got a top edge, and Jadeja took an easy catch. Siraj picked up his second wicket of the match by dismissing Ollie Pope for 22. He also removed Root for 29, who failed to get his bat down on time for a length delivery which nipped back in sharply.
Siraj also dismissed Jacob Bethell for 6 runs with a yorker delivery which nipped back in and the batter was too late to defend it.
