Border-Gavaskar Trophy To New Zealand Tour: India’s Full Upcoming Schedule In World Test Championship 2025-27

The Shubman Gill-led Indian side won their first series in the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) after securing a clean sweep against the West Indies by a 2-0 margin after victories in the Ahmedabad and Delhi Test matches.

This was the two-time finalist’s first home series in the fourth edition of the mega event.

After missing out on the final for the first time in 2025, the Asian giants have made an impressive start to their campaign in the ongoing cycle, having earlier played out a 2-2 draw in a marquee five-match series against England.

As things stand, India is third on the table with a win percentage of 61.90, with only Sri Lanka (66.67) and Australia (100) ahead of them. Among the nine teams, India is the only team to play two series. Infact, Pakistan and South Africa are currently playing their first series of the cycle while New Zealand are yet to play a single match.

India’s Road To WTC 2027 Final

India has four series with two assignments away from home and two on Indian soil. The Gill-led outfit faces two tough tests at home as they will play the finalist of the 2025 edition at home with a two-match series against South Africa next month before the marquee five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is their last edition of the cycle.

India’s away schedule is not easy as they will play two games against Sri Lanka, having not visited the Island nation for a red-ball assignment for nine years. Later, the two teams will also travel to New Zealand to face the 2021 champions in two games. India has not played the Black Caps away from home since 2020 and has not won a match in the country since 2009.

India’s Remaining World Test Championship 2025-27 Schedule

Opponents Home Or Away Matches Time
South Africa Home 2 November 2025
Sri Lanka Away 2 August 2026
New Zealand Away 2 October 2026
Australia Home 5 February-March 2027

India is yet to win the WTC but has the most consistent team in the tournament. They reached the final in 2021 and 2023, where they lost to New Zealand. Even when they missed out in 2025, they secured a third spot and missed out by a narrow margin.
